Number six on our list is the Lightner Creek Campground in Durango, Colorado. Durango is one of the most favorite towns for RV owners to visit, with the Creek Campground being one of the many perks while staying in the town.

The campground is a great choice because of its laid back location, tucked into the trees, with a little creek running through. The environment is very peaceful, quiet and offers good privacy. Black Canyon Campground in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Coming in at number five on our list is the Black Canyon Campground in Santa Fe New Mexico. This is a national forest campground, unlike the other campgrounds on our list. It is a great place to stay in the Santa Fe area, which is why it made the list.

First and foremost we want to acknowledge that it is only ten bucks to camp here, which is awesome in the Santa Fe area. The vibe of the forest camping experience really resonates with nature loving travelers. The RV park is located up the mountain, with a much higher elevation, cooler weather and lots of pine trees. All these things combine to make for a very nice, relaxing and peaceful atmosphere.

There are a few things to consider:

  • Due to the location, there is no cellular service up there and that’s one thing to consider. It kind of allows you to experience nature more and be disconnected, but if you are used to posting your travel vlogs on Youtube or keep your social network updates, you will have a tough time.

Besides the network issue, there are no other hookups at the site. There is water available there and vault toilets are installed at specific points. There are fire pits and picnic tables available as well.

  • info-circleThe site is very well maintained, super wide and paved, meaning that you wouldn’t have any trouble getting level and setup.

It is a nice little National Forest Park and we highly recommend it for the Santa Fe area. It is very busy and you may barely find any spot so it is better to have a plan B available just in case you cannot stay here.

Coming in at number four on our list is Sam’s Family Spa in Hot Springs, California. This is a great place to park at if you are coming to LA. People come here all year round, but the park is specially full near Christmas and Thanksgiving.

This RV park is a nice place to unwind for a while. The most favorite thing to do in the park, for most travelers, is hitting the natural hot springs. There are four different tubs with varying temperatures available to relax in. There are some nice pools too and if you do not want to stay in the hot springs, you can always chill in the pools. What makes this RV park so homely is the staff here – everyone working on site is just super laid back, making it a low stress environment for themselves and the visitors.

The nightly right here starts around 50 bucks but if you stay a month, it is only going to be around 575 bucks, which really discounts that nightly rate.

There are a few things to consider:

  • Some of the sites are pretty close together and you don’t have much privacy

  • info-circle

It can get really windy out here

  • info-circle

This year, they have launched their free Wi-Fi service, which is great for both browsing and streaming.

Catherine’s Landing in Hot Springs, Arkansas

Number three on our list is Catherine’s Landing in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

This park starts out at around $50 a night but it has waterfront views where you can rent kayaks and go exploring. It’s just a short drive from downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas, where you can go visit the bath houses and explore the history.

The water body located in the park is very peaceful. You can walk down there at evenings or mornings and enjoy the fog coming off the surface of the water. You can rent pontoon boats and even enjoy testing yourself on the zip lines. Another cool thing about this park is they have beehives that have been maintained far out in the woods, which are surrounding the park, to help repopulate the bee colony in the area. The RV park also has disc golf at the park, hiking trails and several more amenities.

As far as considerations go again, this is a park where you can just go and stay in. There is nothing that you need to be prepared for beforehand. The park is indeed a little pricey but if you stay for a week or a month, your per night rate is going to come down.

The community buildings are great too, with workout rooms, pool tables and huge TVs.

Talking about the considerations to keep in mind:

For the wine lovers, there are so many vineyards available to tour and taste and then right down the road is a Danish architecture community, with little shops to buy souvenirs from.

The only considerations you should keep in mind about this park:

The company that manages Flying Flags RV Resort is called Highway West vacations and they have really sprung up in the RV world due to their mission of creating great resorts across the country.

Conclusion
